Number of bars to generate.
The genre whose figures may be used. Genre is what selects the material; the complexity dials then deform it and the difficulty ceiling rejects it.
OptionalsectionSection the pattern plays in, matched against each entry's own sections.
OptionaltsTime signature, in any form that names one; defaults to 4/4.
OptionalctxThe generation context. bpm is the tempo, complexity.rhythmic thins the
figure below its middle setting and syncopates it above,
complexity.ornament decides how many ghosts survive,
complexity.difficulty rejects a figure the player could not keep up at
this tempo, vocabulary brings figures of the caller's own, and seed
fixes which figure is chosen for each bar.
OptionalratePlay the figure at half or double its written rate. This is a deformation like the dials, not a different figure: the dictionary entry is the same.
It is named for the note values it changes because feel names the swing
the figure is played with, here and in generateDrums alike.
OptionalfeelThe swing the figure is played with. Some entries are written on the straight grid and are only themselves once a triplet feel is applied at render — the half-time shuffle is the plain case — so this is the surface those entries name when they say the feel comes from the performance.
OptionalvelocityBase velocity the figure's own factors are read against.
OptionalbudgetMaximum number of onsets placeDrumPattern may write. One figure is placed per bar, so this is the guard against an unbounded caller rather than a limit on any search.
